It is fair to say (though not always true) that self employment could lead to a state of self improvement in the long term. Plenty of people hold the dream of working on there own account but for many it remains just that, a dream. With so much to worry about such as no job security it is little wonder that most budding business owners give up before they even get started.

Unfortunately for many others there is little choice in the matter. They make up the numbers of the ever growing masses that are pushed out of full time work due to company buy outs and sizedowns or whatever trendy label they give them these days. These are the people who have had the rudest of awakenings from their corporate slumber to realize that there are no jobs for life and no one is safe from the hatchet man.

For these guys its more a case of self employment or no employment. Having said that, many of them now swear its the best thing that ever happened to them because they discovered who they truly are. They have then gone on to travel the road of self improvement realizing that there is more to life than work and that you can have anything you want if you dream hard enough. They will tell you that they now spend more time with their families doing the things that are important to them.

Its a strange culture that we have evolved into since the industrial revolution where everyone seems to think that they are somehow entitled to a job. That employment is a God given right and that someone out there actually owes them a living. If there are no jobs it must be the governments fault or the powers to be. Yep that's it, it must be someone else's fault that they don't have a job so they will sit around and wait until whoever is in charge does something about it.

Then of course there is the other camp. They see the world in a completely different light altogether. To them the world is their work place. I am not just talking about high flying business executives here either but ordinary Joe's and Jane's with manual skills and talents that they sell to whoever needs them. These are the guys who make up the real ranks of the self employed. Their lives are a work in progress and self improvement is the bi product of their labours.

These people chose when they work and where they do it. They are the true masters of their own destinies and not only their lives but the lives of those around them are enriched by this style of living. They don't rely on a huge corporation to pay their check every month or jump when they tell them to. They take their vacation when it suits them and if they need time of to be with their families they don't have to scrape or grovel to some boss. These are the pioneers of this new frontier, the frontier of the self employed and self improved.

The Road To Self Improvement

By Paul Mobley

Getting started into self-improvement begins by acknowledging that improvement is needed.

I have known excellent men over the years that were successful. None would claim they were perfect. Thus they were always open to improving self. And that mental-action state is needed if we are to reach our peak, the best that we can do.

After that one needs to decide on what they want to improve. It can be anything from being a better spouse, a better parent, to religion, to one’s career.

Success or failure comes first from within. We must overcome our doubts, our own barriers, before we can think success. Dwelling on our own shortcomings, any risks involved in pursuit of success, and the effort needed to improve, will defeat us. Solomon said “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” If one thinks negatives predominantly, failing to do will be the result.

The second action is thus getting our thinking straight. There is a need to realize that we can do, that we can succeed, and that we can make the improvements necessary to succeed.

The third is to ignore the down beaters. There may be friends and colleagues who tell you that it will not work. Don’t listen. You can succeed at whatever you plan, unless it is evil.

Fourth, remain strong in belief in self. And just do it. Go after the self-improvements, learn them well, and make them a part of your thinking. Going after them can mean returning to school, or attending seminars, or seeking out experts and get their advice and information, and believe it or not you may be able to search out the information and instruction needed for improvement and add them to your knowledge. Be prepared.

Fifth, may be the hardest, yet now you know it can be done.

I examined a small business n Cleveland that wanted to become a supplier. First the owner/operator and I sat in his small office, the only one he had, and discussed the business. After awhile I said lets look at your shop. We did. I looked at the equipment and his personnel as they worked. Result, I approved the business. Surprise: the shop was on dirt floors. But it became a multi-million business. I imagine the owner sold it for well over a million dollars. You see he had succeeded and a little thing like dirt floors was not going to stop him. He and his original personnel had the knowledge and used it well.

Applying knowledge to self can be difficult, yet it is easy when one realizes that he can do anything when he is prepared.

Applying that knowledge to a career, to being a better spouse, to being better religiously, to whatever, may meet resistance at first. But persistence and persuasion will win.

Inner self-improvement is internal and up to self, and no one else. Outer life application becomes easier as one realizes that it can be done, for he will them pursue it with patience and persistence, until he succeeds.

Do You Really Think You Can?

By Dr Kem Thompson

You've probably accomplished some things successfully
in your life so far, and some things you have wanted to
do, you haven't done them, or perhaps you've attempted
but failed.

Ever notice how you are able to accomplish something
when you're confident about your ability to do so? When
you believe that you can do it? When you really think you
stand a chance of succeeding?

Think about it: everything you've succeeded at so far - pick
one example from your life - how did you feel about doing that
thing at the time?

It is important to remember this because the key to your success
was the way you felt at the time. So if you can recapture that
emotion, you'll know what you intend to recreate in another
situation.

On the other hand, if you can think of something you've not
accomplished although you want to do so, how do you feel
about that thing? What thoughts do you have concerning that
thing? Those are the very thoughts that are keeping you stuck
in that situation. Thoughts of worry, self-doubt, fear. These
thoughts paralyze you into inaction. Inaction breeds 'failure', or
lack of desired results.

Realize something: the moment you catch the vision, the moment
the Truth dawns on you, the moment you realize that you really
can fulfil your dreams, that you can enjoy perfect health, that you
can enjoy great relationships and effortless abundance, in that
moment will you be free from all (innapropriate and destructive)
inhibitions. In that moment, every shackle that's holding you back
will be broken and you will soar to greater heights than you've
ever done.

This is because with that realization comes confidence, belief in
yourself and in who you are and in what you can do. This confidence
literally propels you into taking appropriate action towards your
intentions and goals.

How do you 'catch the vision'?

Take baby steps: begin to entertain the thought that, whatever
you desire to accomplish, *it's possible*.

Just play around with that thought. Turn it into a question if you
wish, eg: 'is it possible for me to create a viable income source
from my online marketing business, such that I can pay my
mortgage and my parents' mortage purely from that income?'
Then answer to yourself 'it is possible'.

Confession: The above question was exactly what I asked myself
a couple years ago - I'd had an online business but had let it stay
dormant, until I got brutally honest with myself and realized that the
real reason for my not working that business was that I didn't
believe it could work for me. I didn't believe I could use it as a
vehicle to achieve my dreams. When I realized this truth, I quickly
corrected myself, realized that it was indeed possible for me to
earn solid income from that business, and immediately felt
fired up to actually do the business.

Long story short, in a couple of months I was not only earning
some income (started out small but has been increasing since),
and in fact I now receive weekly cheques from the company I
work with, I also 'advanced in rank', within the same company.

All because I realized, and accepted the truth that I really could
do so. Read my blog to discover how that applied to my health as
well.

What about you?

What dreams are you leaving unaccomplished because you don't
really think they can come true for you?
What desires are you leaving unfulfilled?
How much money are you leaving on the table?
Whose love are you missing out on giving or receiving?

You've got the power within you, to be, do or have anything
you desire.

Start by entertaining the idea, the thought, the concept of 'Possibility
Thinking'. It's possible. It is, you know. It really, really is!

Dr Kem Thompson is an International Speaker and Author.
She teaches the beliefs and principles that govern
the achievement of outstanding success in any
area of life.
To sign up for her FREE ezine (and get a thank-you gift)-
visit 'Days of Success' at http://www.success-seminars.org/

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Dr_Kem_Thompson

How To 'Self Talk' Your Way To Success?

By Shrinivas Vaidya

Dear Friends,

All human beings have a unique ability right from birth, the
ability to "think" and express his/her thoughts in the form
of "speech", "written words" etc..

There are some individuals who can not speak because of
the disabilities in the vocal mechanism of the body. But
there is no individual on this planet who can't think.

Thoughts are the primary source of any kind of expression.
Some thoughts are "reactions" to certain events in everyday
life. According to ancient Indian medicinal studies called
"Ayurveda", the quality of thoughts differs by the change
in the quality of food we eat.

That's the reason why in ancient India, Knights and his
armour were given food which would arouse them for fighting
against the enemies.

These thoughts which we think everyday, have a major impact
on our personalities and decides the actions we would take
in future.

There is a common saying that "You Are What You Think You Are"
and its true. If you change the way to think or talk to
yourself, you can immediately start becoming a new person.

However self-talk doesn't necessarily mean talking loud, it
includes your thoughts also, because as said above thoughts
are the primary source of any expression.

Now how to use self-talk for maximum results?

If you observe closely every human being is always talking to
himself. Even when you are reading these words, your mind
will immediately try to judge the trueness or usability of
the content outlined here. These springing back of thoughts
is what makes you what you are right now.

This is true with any situation good or bad for you. This
means that if you gain control over the reaction of your
mind during various events happening in everyday life, you
can easily "choose" the reactive thoughts, which would
paint a different picture of you.

But this requires good concentration abilities and may not
be a practical solution, though is possible.

That's why there are many more good techniques to carry out
and feed your mind with productive thoughts which work for
you.

Some of these methods are, using index cards and pasting
them at places where they can be seen frequently, using
audio tapes or CD's with affirmative messages.

By using these techniques the process of feeding your mind
with positive affirmations becomes almost automatic. As you
live your everyday life with regular routine the affirmative
index cards keep on feeding you mind with messages written
on them, without even disturbing you or any extra efforts
from your part.

Audio tapes also have a very good response rate with those
have used them for self improvement.

The key to success with self talk is the words which you
use in the self talk. Writing a good self talk is an art
and can be mastered wit a little practice

Copyright 2005 Shrinivas Vaidya

Are you dead serious for using self-talk as a self-help tool? Then you must read "What To Say When You Talk To Yourself" by Shad helmstetter. If you’re an athlete, success can mean obtaining that gold medal. If you identify yourself as a parent, success can mean raising children with good moral values. For a doctor, success can mean relieving pain or saving a life. To many of us success means a job promotion or acquiring wealth. It depends on your perspective and how you perceive yourself and your life.

You are the only one who can judge your success. If you try to achieve success according to someone else’s standards or society’s standards, you will never be satisfied that you have achieved it.

Yet even when we know that we define our own success, we often seem to fail. We feel dissatisfied, empty, tense. Our minds are not at rest, not peaceful, not harmonious. Our thoughts are full of “if onlys.” You know what they’re like: “If only I had more money, I would be happy.” “If only I could lose 20 pounds, my life would be perfect.”

What’s the difficulty? Are we setting unrealistic goals? Maybe, but that’s not really the problem. Are we not trying hard enough? Usually that’s not a factor either. What is it? Us! We are our own worst enemy. “We have met the enemy and he is us,” as Walt Kelly, creator of Pogo, famously wrote.

How do we sabotage our success, undermine our goals, subvert our desires? Through the largely unconscious programming of our minds. That’s the whole answer in a nutshell. It’s our thoughts, the thoughts we allow to parade through our heads and invade our subconscious. When we can learn to change our thoughts, then our success is assured.

Your mind didn’t come with an instruction manual. You were given a lot of instruction by your parents, your teachers, your friends, by books, movies, TV. But did any of it tell you how to control your thoughts? Did it tell you how to program your mind?

You do have the power to change your life if you want to. You do have the power to achieve the goals you set for yourself. But you won’t succeed if you don’t learn to control your mind first.

The seat of power in your life is your unconscious mind, the mind that works 24/7 on whatever program you have set for it. You set these programs by empowering your thoughts with vision, expectation, belief and desire. Before anything that you wish for can happen, you must envision it clearly, desire it, believe deeply that it will happen, and expect confidently that it will happen.

The unconscious mind will act based on your ability to program it. You constantly send your unconscious information and messages, whether you think so or not, but many of the messages tend to be negative (”if only”). When you think “if only” you tell your unconscious that you are not a success, that you are in a state of lack and limitation.

So be very careful of your thoughts, beliefs and actions. If you worry about not having enough money, you are programming your mind for lack. If you worry that you can’t accomplish your goals, you are programming your mind for failure. If you believe you haven’t the opportunities you need to get ahead, you are programming yourself not to recognize them when they appear.

Why? The unconscious mind is constantly working on the information that you have sent, and negative information yields negative reality. As the computer geeks say, “Garbage in, garbage out.”

You can have success; you can change your life. But you must change your mind first.

Steve Diamond is a student of the mental and spiritual laws of attraction. So, my friend, you’re not alone.

This caused a lot of hardship in my life. I had many personal bad habits I wanted to get rid of, but due to lack of self-discipline and control, I was unable to do so.

Since 3 years ago, my life has changed and improved because of a few strategies I developed that helped me kick my bad habits, improve myself and achieve my ambitions in life.

What is your new year’s resolution?

Do you want to lose weight?

Do you want to stop smoking?

Do you want to stop drinking?

Do you want to kick your drug habit?

Do you want to stop gambling?

Do you want to make three times more money this year?

Whatever your resolutions and goals may be, you can succeed if you adopt a few easy strategies I want to reveal.

Permit me to share with you 10 of these easy tips that have helped me keep my new year’s resolutions and make them work for me.

(1) Be reasonable

Know your weaknesses, define them and commit to improving yourself. Do all that is reasonable and legal to kick your bad habits and change your life for the better.

Have reasonable expectations.

For example if you’re 100Ibs overweight, it will be unreasonable to expect to lose all of it in a week!

However, if you make a commitment to engage in more physical exercises, eat healthy food and allow about 3 months, then that will be reasonable and you may succeed.

I was 100 Ibs overweight for many years, but by being reasonable, I have lost all the extra weight!

Make a resolution because it is right for you and will help you succeed in life and not because you want to please others or because it is fashionable.

You can’t please anyone until you’ve pleased yourself.

Set priorities. Start with small goals and resolutions and work your way up to the jumbo ones.

(2) Don’t bite more than you can chew

Take it easy on yourself. You’re human, not a machine. Don’t make too many resolutions, which will then be hard for you to keep and cause you to fail and feel disappointed and hopeless.

Make about 2-3 resolutions at a time. Be very clear about the bad habits that you wish to kick or goals that you desire to achieve.

Don’t make a decision to kick a habit unless you’re ready for it.

For example some people who have been smoking or drinking alcohol for many years have noticed that each time they decided to quit they have failed.

The reason is that they may not be physically or mentally ready yet to stop.

When you smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol, there are many biological and chemical activities involved.

The cells and organs in your body change and become dependent on the chemicals in the cigarettes (nicotine) and alcohol.

Therefore even though you have realized the dangers of smoking or drinking, you may not be able to suddenly wake up from sleep and decide to stop.

Those cells and organs in your body may still continue to need the chemicals.

This is the cause of the “urge”, “desire”, or “craving” that you feel to smoke or drink.

So, take it easy. Withdraw from bad habits slowly. If you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, start by cutting it down to half a pack daily and continue until someday, suddenly, the urge to smoke will stop.

And stop blaming yourself for the bad habits. Accept your bad habits, but determine to kick them.

Acceptance frees you slowly from the bad habits. Guilt and self- condemnation splits your energy and ties you more and more to the bad habits, so avoid these feelings.

You can apply the same strategy to kick any bad habit. Slowly and steadily, if you persevere, you’ll win!

(3) Write your resolutions down.

After you’ve clearly realized and defined your weaknesses and bad habits, write them down in a notebook. Write all your goals and ambitions down in a notebook.

This is one way to get mentally and physically committed to taking action.

Bad habits are all the behavior and personality traits that block your way in life and make it difficult for you to achieve your dreams and ambitions.

If you don’t know your weaknesses and habits in life, perhaps you can do what I did and ask any of your enemies to tell you.

(Tip: Don’t ask family members or friends. They will never tell you the truth because they are afraid of offending you. Only enemies can help you. And if you have no enemy, make one on purpose!)

(4) Picturize your resolutions daily.

Be sure you have easy access to your notebook in which you wrote down your resolutions, goals and ambitions.

Read your resolutions at least twice a day, first thing in the morning and also just before you go to sleep in the night. Think about and mentally picturize your resolutions.

See yourself in the eye of your mind succeeding with all your resolutions, goals and ambitions.

Smile and tell yourself all the time that you have the willpower, the self-control and discipline to run your life and to achieve all that you desire.

This is a good way to program your mind and thoughts. Instead of allowing others, TV, radio and magazine advertisements to program your mind and thoughts, control you and thereby force you to engage in bad habits, take matters into your hands and begin to constantly program your mind and thoughts with positive affirmations for success and happiness.

(5) Search for and obtain tools and resources that can help you actualize your resolutions, goals and ambitions.

It is not enough to know your weaknesses, set up goals and also visualize them.

You must also obtain the necessary tools and resources to use to make your resolutions, goals and ambitions succeed.

For this reason, the Internet is a powerful tool for you. Search out and read articles on various topics to obtain valid useful information.

Buy and view “How To Videos” to learn any skills you need. Go to Cbmall Storefront (a Clickbank Store), where you can find 10,000 different e-books that can provide solutions to any problems you may have and provide you with insight into how to handle difficult aspects of your life.

Information and its correct application is power. To search and obtain the right information is going half way to solving your problems.

(6) Read good books on various subjects.

Get into the habit of reading good books, articles and magazines because that is one way to increase your knowledge and perspective in life.

The more you read good books, the more educated, intelligent and sharp you’ll be.

Go to your nearest public library and borrow good books. The last time I went to my nearest public library, I borrowed 20 books at a time. Do you get it? Reading very good books is one way that I have obtained the knowledge I am sharing with you here.

Read good magazines. Borrow good movies from your nearest public library and watch and try to learn a lesson from it.

You can find time to read. When you come back from work, after having your meal, read a book. When going to work, if you ride the train or use any other public transportation, read a book.

Any time you have free time, read a good book!

(7) Network with family members, friends and colleagues.

Go out and meet your friends and discuss their problems as well as yours.

Join clubs, associations and groups and mingle with others. Make friends daily where you go! By doing this, you’ll gain insight into human conditions and their problems. This will help you then understand your own problems and how to solve them.

Talk about other people’s problem all the time, as well as yours. Make the world know what you’re thinking. Go out. Be bold.

Communicate with others. Phone others. Chat with others. E-mail other people. Say something. Open your mouth and say “hello” to others. (Don’t worry, they won’t bite you!) Talk to other human beings! Get the load off your chest.

Know what is going in your city, state and the world. Read the news. Rise, shine and succeed.

(8) Update your resolutions continuously.

A lot of times the resolutions you set up may not work out as you planned.

So, be ready to keep revising and updating them. Be flexible. Bend but don’t break. Keep all options open.

Be pragmatic and be willing to look at every aspect of a situation before forming an opinion.

Flow with the times and with life.

When you attain a goal or achieve a resolution, delete it from your list and replace it with another one. View your resolutions and goals daily. Be possessed by them.

If you do that, sooner or later, it will start impacting on your mind and it will activate circumstances and start bringing to you people, conditions and opportunities you need to actualize your goals and resolutions.

(9) Don’t give up.

Life is change. Sometimes things will go your way and other times it will not.

When it doesn’t go your way, don’t get mad, blame the devil, feel disappointed and give up. There is no devil causing you problems in life.

If you fall, get up and keep moving. Life is made up of ups and downs, understand it now and accept it. It is the facticity of life. Keep pushing ahead all the time. Refuse to give up.

As long as you keep moving, someday, you’ll reach where you’re going. And Avoid making excuses.

Remember you’re an immortal and life is endless. There is no beginning and no end. Life is movement. So, keep moving. Don’t be discouraged by failure. Keep moving on. Push ahead.

Never give up. Never quit. Quitters never win in life and winners never quit.

(10) Believe and Trust yourself.

To make your goals and resolutions succeed, you must believe and trust in yourself.

I tell you, my dear friend, unless you believe and trust yourself, nobody will.

Unless you belief and trust yourself, true success may not happen for you.

Most people fail in life because they don’t trust themselves. They have made many resolutions and set up many goals that failed and so became disappointed.

They listen to the pessimistic opinions of their family members and friends.

So, stay away from negative people who enjoy telling you all the time why you’ll never succeed.

Seek and associate with positive people who have the same ambitions in life like you do. Exchange ideas with them. Learn from them. Be creative. Do things differently from others. Be original.

Think about both sides of every thing before doing it. See the big picture.

Stop being limited. Think big and clearly and free your self. Let your imagination soar high to the blue sky.

No matter what happens to you in life, don’t give up on yourself. Never give up on your dreams and aspirations. Some dreams may take a short time to become a reality while others may take a long time, but all the same they will come true someday, if you keep moving on.

Make yourself number one, “numero uno”. Trust yourself. Listen to yourself.
Respect yourself. Think well of yourself. Think of what is good for you.

Set up goals and resolutions. Then obtain all the necessary tools and resources to help you. Then take action. Read good books, watch good movies, and eat healthy food. Drink lots of juices. Engage in physical exercises or work out in the gym.

Think right. Network with the right people. Exchange ideas. Be alert and aware wherever you are. Stop being an automaton. Be civilized, keep the laws of your land and all will be well for you. Rise up and shine.

May long life, good health and success be yours.

Please feel free to print this article, publish it anywhere or e-mail it to your friends and colleagues.

Thank you.

Warmly,

I-key Benney

Visit Maychic's website at: http://www.maychic.com

And also Maychic's Amazon.com Store at:
http://www.maychic.com/amazonstore

Download free "TMT Power Secrets" Book-1 at:
http://www.tmtworldwide.org

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=I-key_Benney

Top 10 Tips For Cold Calling Success

By Gavin Ingham

At some point or other every sales person has to cold call. Whether it’s ringing totally new clients, chasing leads, gaining referrals, networking or following up on a conference card handed in it’s not something that many salespeople are that comfortable with.

Being able to cold call confidently, professionally and effectively will not only open up more potential business for you it will also allow you to feel more in control of your own destiny and much more empowered. Here are my top 10 tips for cold calling success…

1. Plan and prepare your opening statement.

The more individuals I train the more important I think this is. I have made tens of thousands of calls and listened to far more. Whether cold or indeed warm calling the biggest problem by far is lack of client engagement. This can be down to several factors but by far the most significant is a failure to plan and prepare a decent opening statement.

An opening statement needs an introduction, a hook (what’s in it for client) and a bridge to your questions or your close. Without these it’s impotent. Make sure that the benefits you offer are a) really benefits and b) relevant to the person you are speaking to and not just you! My top tip would be to imagine your self in your client’s shoes and then ask, “What will this call potentially do for my business and why should I care?”

2. Get into the right state of mind and expect success.

Unmotivated people to not make good salespeople. Let’s face it, who would buy off someone who didn’t appear to believe it themselves. When I train teams I am constantly amazed at the number of salespeople who pick up the phone expecting rejection. It doesn’t seem to matter whether they are making cold calls, customer care calls or follow up calls … only a small percentage of top performers absolutely expect success.

Attitude and mindset are infectious. Clients know within seconds whether you are congruent with your message or not. I once did a verbal survey with my clients asking them why they bought from me in the first place. The overwhelming (and surprise at the time) answer was, “It felt like the right thing to do!”

Expecting success is a crucial part of your success.

3. Know WHY your need to do this.

On a day to day basis most of us forget WHY we are doing certain things. We find ourselves cold calling because we have to or because we are told to. If you want to make change in your cold calling habits then it is going to require some commitment, some focus and some persistence. The best way of leveraging these attributes from your self is to ask yourself, “Why is cold calling important to me? What does it do for me? How does it link to my goals and my dreams?”

When coaching individual sales people on teams I can usually tell who will act and who will not and it’s usually down to whether the individual has a need or a want or not. Holding your self to a higher standard is hard if you have no reason to so spend some time and work our why cold calling is important to you right now.

4. Practise delivery focusing on pace, pitch and tone.

When I listen to sales calls I am frequently shocked by the message within the message. In face to face sales 55% of the message is non-verbal. On the phone, this element is missing and this means that the message consists only of the words and how you say them. Whilst the words are vitally important the way you say them will be directly linked to your success or ultimate failure.

Having listened to thousands of calls I can honestly say that the message behind the message for most calls is … “I’m bored, tired and putting in the numbers and you’re probably tot say no anyway!”. Would you buy from someone was saying this to you?

Get someone you trust to listen to your calls and give you feedback on pace, pitch and tone. What message are you sending out?

5. Plan and prepare relevant questions.

Questions and client interaction are paramount for selling. Most salespeople think that they are good at questioning. Most are wrong. Planning and preparing good questions is something that all salespeople should do regularly.

Questions are incredibly important because they focus the mind. This is as true when talking to others as it is when talking inside your own head! Most of us put the focus in the wrong place both internally and externally by asking the wrong questions.

Imagine ringing a new client, introducing yourself and giving a few benefits. They’re listening but they’re not on board yet!! Now imagine asking questions uch as, “Does that sound like something that would be of interest to you?” and “Would you be interested in meeting up then?”

These questions are an absolute waste of time and the resounding answer that you get will be, “No!”.

Questions need to focus the client’s mind on something that you would like them to think about such as, “Have you ever had any difficulties…?” or “How do you currently…?”

6. Have your support tools to hand.

Part of being professional is being prepared. When you get on the phone you need your diary, notes, paper and pens to hand. I cannot count the number of times I have watched a sales “professional” start to close for a meeting and then realise they don’t have a diary open on the desk or on the computer. One long pause later… rapport and meeting lost!

Expect success, work out what support tools you need to be successful and make sure that they are to hand.

7. Divert calls and minimise disruptions.

A recent survey studying working habits suggested that the average worker actually works for less than 3 hours in an average working day. This seems quite high to me! Most people seem to find so many extraneous and irrelevant tasks to do that it’s a wonder they ever get anything done. To be a sales superstar you need to work out what activities bring you success and then set aside time to do them.

Work out your ratios and then work out how many calls you need to make to achieve your personal goals. Once you’ve done that get on and do it. Most salespeople actually spend too much time “on the phone”… the problem is that they’re not focused enough when they are on the phone. Try turning off your mobile, diverting all calls and asking not to be disturbed. Get your self energised and prepared and then make 45 minutes worth of top quality, proactiver calls. You’ll be amazed by how much you can achieve in ¾ of an hour!

8. Set clear objectives for your session.

Many salespeople make calls without any objectives or goals. This is a complete waste of time. You need to plan and prepare for all proactive sales sessions. Pre-decide on your activities and how you are going to measure them. Set realistic objectives and targets and stick to them. Only this way will you be able to improve and grow.

9. Don’t put your phone down.

Whether cold or warm calling it’s important that you keep the energy flowing when you are making proactive calls. It’s too easy to get distracted, start doing something else or take ever increasing breaks between each call.

One very effective way of achieving shorter break time and therefore more proactive energy is to not put the telephone down between calls. Not only does this work but you also save on the psychological energy of having to pick the phone up again every call!! I also recommend that wearing a headset increases the work rate of nearly all telephone sales people

10. Master your physiology.

Your physiology is the way you use your body… your posture, movement, facial expressions and breathing. Changing your physiology changes your state. If you were to walk into a room full of salespeople on the phone you would instantly know if they were “up for it” or not by the way they were sitting, moving, talking and so on.

Take a moment to think about your physiology now. Think about the best telephone call that you’ve ever made… How were you sitting / standing? How did you move? What were your facial expressions? Voice patterns? How did you hold your head? How was your breathing? Did you use a headset / handset?

Get your log-book and make a note of your findings. Over the next week I want you to concentrate on starting all of your telephone sessions from this physiology and maintaining it throughout. If you find your physiology changing then get yourself straight back into the right physiology. Remember that doing this in front of the others in the office at 830am in the morning could feel unnatural… and so will the extra commissions when they roll in but I think you can cope with that!!!

So that’s it. 10 top tops for being a great cold caller and a better salesperson. It may seem
that charismatic individuals have a natural ability to influence
others.

Have you ever dreamt of having such charisma?! Are you
disappointed because you don’t have that natural gift?! Do you
need charisma to influence others and get noticed by those
around you?

Ok, I have some good news for you. You can develop charisma! You
can learn it, you can practice it and you can acquire it.

Now, I am going to share with you top 3 tips to generate
personal charisma in the eyes of others.

1. Have a Purpose

Charismatic individuals are always working to accomplish some
great purpose. They have high sense of contribution. They know
that they are unique and responsible for making the world a
better place for everyone. They know why they are here in life
and they work hard to fulfill that purpose. They value their
time, life and themselves.

2. Have Goals

Charismatic individuals have goals. They have a clear vision and
specific goals to achieve that vision. They plan their work and
work their plan. They focus on what they want to achieve. Having
clear, specific goals makes them attract people and
opportunities that are needed to get what they want. They work
everyday to make their goals a reality.

3. Develop Self-Confidence

Charismatic individuals have an intense belief in themselves.
They have an unshakable belief in their ability to rise above
circumstances. Even if they have doubts inside they let their
dreams give them the power to face fear and uncertainty. The
very act of behaving like winners makes them highly admirable
human beings. They are trusted by everyone. Their belief in
themselves and their vision gives them more chances to succeed
and to get they want.

If you apply those top 3 tips, you will have an impressive
personality that makes people naturally enjoy your company and
want to be around you.

Start developing your charisma and move like a winner who is
absolutely confident of his success and ultimate victory.

Mohamed Tohami (http://www.tohami.com) is a success mentor
helping thousands of people worldwide to live a purposeful life
and achieve their goals. It’s not just about setting a goal and then working hard to achieve it. You will need to make careful decisions, you will need the support of family and friends, technical know how, but most of all you will need that heartfelt desire, which will drive you to keep going no matter what life throws at you. Even through the negativity, self doubt, fear of failure and even fear of success, you will always need to go back to the question “Is this what I truly desire with all my heart and soul.”

Paying the price is the next thing you will have to go through. How is your commitment to your goals? It’s not just about how much time you put in; it’s a question of how much you want it. What do you sacrifice in order to achieve, do you change what’s not working, and do you look for advice from people who have done what you want to do, or seek Mentors to guide you. While everybody else is watching TV or enjoying Happy Hour, successful people are making the most of every minute. After all, you only get what you have paid for!

Your Self Confidence will take a beating along the way, but a high expectation of success is the most important and valuable quality that you can possess. It’s more important than practise or preparation. Learn to expect the best, even if you have to force yourself to do so, don’t just hope for it! That optimism is contagious; it will rub off on the people around you. But a word of caution here: all this doesn’t mean to blindly go about you day and ignore the problems that arise, it means to try to see the positive in any situation while still fixing what needs to be fixed. In other words be optimistic and energetic but don’t let yourself get so high that you don’t recognise and address problems that we all will face everyday.

Mistakes will happen, but worrying about past failures and errors is one of the most self destructive pastimes you can engage in. You can choose to be in control of what you think about.

Remember the words of President Calvin Coolidge:

Nothing in the world can take the place of determination. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent and unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

So watch your thinking, negative thoughts can completely take over. Focus on tasks and the positive aspects of what you are about to do. Make the process fun along the way and don’t just focus of the outcome. The journey is half of the fun.

The Drive to win comes down to these simple steps; remember to choose something that your heart desires, then be prepared to pay the price, develop your self confidence and last of all watch your negative thoughts and just plain have fun! Put these few tips into place and you will soon see success start to come your way.

Finally, remember that success is for everyone, you just need to work at it.

“People are where they are because that is exactly where they really want to be - whether they will admit that or not.”

Don't be like the masses. Get started today! I know you can do it!

Learn and Earn with Success University: “Give me 60 days and I’ll Show You How simple it is To Turn Your Passion Into a Thriving Business on the Internet…”
http://www.2b-boss-free.info

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Janelle_Brooker

Building Ultimate Success by Boosting Confidence

By Paul Jerard

Most of us realize that it takes positive action to become successful. There are many reasons to avoid action, such as: Procrastination, pure laziness, and lack of confidence. Although procrastination, and having the ambition of a sloth, will prevent action and success, let’s address the issue of boosting confidence for ultimate success.

Lack of self-confidence is similar to a disease, and it can even affect the most ambitious of people. Boosting confidence is like a vitamin supplement that propels you toward achievement. You should develop a daily routine for boosting your confidence. One of the best ways to do this is by visiting the self-help section of the local book store or your local library.

One of my favorite confidence building methods is listening to audio books while I am alone in the car. Audio books, concerning the subject of success, are a great form of coaching and “well worth their weight in gold.” Remember that successful people usually have large libraries, and many are full of books that build your self-confidence, which ultimately causes success.

What’s a single idea worth? The right idea that causes you to have a creative idea of your own, and results in positive action on your part, could possibly make your life very comfortable.

Setting realistic goals, going after them, and achieving them, is also another method to boost your confidence. Write your goals down and create a daily list of small challenges. Within a week, you will have accomplished a much bigger goal. This is a nice “pick me up” for your self-confidence and, ultimately, your success.

This particular goal setting method has a “snowball effect.” Your accomplishments just keep adding up, and you are on your way toward significant success. The fact that you take action, places you “ahead of the pack.”

Spend valuable time with those who love you. So many people forget about quality time with loved ones, who think the world of them. The positive energy you get from family and friends, who truly care about you, is another way to boost your confidence.

When you have thoroughly researched an opportunity, stop worrying about failing and just take decisive action. It does not matter what negative-thinking people have to say. There will always be someone who second guesses any action.

Lastly, praise yourself for taking action and making decisions. This will enhance your self-confidence and open the door to creative thinking. The world is full of “pie in the sky” ideas that no one acted upon and, thus, became forgotten opportunities.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Paul_Jerard

7 Tips For Unstoppable Motivation And Enduring Success

By Peter Murphy

Procrastination is of no use to you in your quest to fulfill your dreams. Lose those old habits and replace them with habits that lead to self-motivation and control over your life.

1. Success is not achieved accidentally. It is a
systematic, deliberate process of deciding what you want to
do with your life, what you will do when you get there, and
what the steps are to get you where you want to be.

One of the most important aspects of success is the ability
to visualize your path and stay focused on your goal until
you reach it.

2. The sooner you envision your dreams and develop a plan
to turn them into reality, the faster you will accomplish
your goals. Mental pictures are a mechanism to lead you
down the path of true independence and motivation.

Procrastination is a self-defeating behavior that develops
in part due to low self-esteem and fear of failure. Your
imagination is like a preview of your future.

If you don't use your imagination your life will remain
mundane and unfulfilling.

3. Overcoming procrastination is the first step in helping
you create the lifestyle you desire. You must change the
habits and behaviors that led you to procrastinate in the
first place.

Change is a slow process so be sure to reward yourself
along the way for small achievements.

Instead of focusing on the difficulty of a large task,
break it into smaller jobs and create a timeline for
finishing them.

4. Several small jobs done over time are much more
manageable that one large task with no end in sight.

You'll be astonished at how much you can get done if you
concentrate on one thing at a time instead of cluttering
your mind with multiple tasks.

Try tackling the more undesirable tasks early in the day so
that by afternoon you can pursue more pleasant activities.

5. Relieve yourself of the pressure created by clutter in
your office or home. Develop a filing system, rid yourself
of unnecessary papers, and give yourself an organized place
to work.

When you exercise self-discipline in your surroundings as
well as your behaviors, you will make major strides in
accomplishing your goals in a shorter period of time.

No matter what is happening around you, keep your mind
focused on the reward you'll receive by reaching your goals.

6. If people or outside forces distract you, use the power
of the human mind to block out what impedes your progress
and concentrate solely on the task at hand.

You will make remarkable progress by refusing to let others
alter the path you have chosen.

Overcoming procrastination and staying motivated is the way
to lifetime success and happiness. You'll achieve your
goals rapidly when you stay focused on your destination and
the rewards that will follow.

7. Review your habits and way of thinking to determine what
you are visualizing most of the time. If your visions do
not lead you in the direction of accomplishing your goals,
then you must change them.

Discipline yourself to concentrate on your goals the
majority of the time, and if you stray from the path, get
promptly back on.

Imagine what the rewards will be when you finally reach
your destination and keep that thought foremost in your
mind.

Peter Murphy is a peak performance expert.

Instead of keeping the main thing the main thing, we major in too many minor things. In other words, many people do a few things that are good, a lot of things that are mediocre, but nothing that is GREAT.

Find the ONE thing you can be the best in the world at and focus unrelentingly on improving that one thing, polishing it to perfection.

Choose great over good in ALL areas of your life! It is far better to have a few great things than a lot of good or mediocre things.

Instead of having six cheap shirts that you don’t feel so great in, have one fine quality shirt that you can feel proud to wear and that makes you feel like a million bucks! Instead of having five or six ho-hum paintings to decorate your walls, invest in ONE magnificent masterpiece that leaves you breathless and enriches your soul every time you look at it! Instead of going to the usual cottage retreat every long-weekend, save up your money and go on one GREAT vacation that you’ve always dreamed of like going on a European boat-cruise, snorkeling in the Red Sea, or taking an art class in Paris. Instead of many mediocre friendships, have a few great friendships that energize and inspire you and that you can spend quality time fostering deeper
relationships. You get the point.

Greatness is a choice! And choice is the democratic equalizer of all people. Everyone, regardless of their rank, social status or income level has the power to choose great over good.

2. Commit to an annual theme. Instead of making and breaking a number of well-wished but half-hearted New Year’s Resolutions, commit to an annual or lifetime theme. Pick a theme that defines your singular life purpose or what you are most passionate about and stick to it.

For example, my theme is: “Write First!” I have this theme posted right in front of me above my computer. My purpose is to write.

I write first and ask questions later. I focus on writing (or things related to developing my writing) first and then worry about the urgent but non-important interruptions (paying bills, answering calls and emails, responding to invitations, etc.) that plague everyone. This theme takes precedence over everything else except my spiritual relationship with my Creator. The only exception to this rule would be a genuinely important priority that falls in one of my top values in life or attending to a family emergency.

Your main theme for 2006 could be “Family First!” or “Health First!” or “Listen First!” or “Service Above Self.” Just pick one and commit to it.

Beside your main theme, make a list of your top values such as love, health, giving, peace, wealth, etc. to ground yourself and distinguish between important and non-important but urgent matters. In his autobiography, Benjamin Franklin listed thirteen virtues (Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Chastity, and Humility) to which he governed his life and gave a week’s strict attention to mastering one virtue at a time repeating the list in order every thirteen weeks.

3. Practice a policy of planned neglect. In other words, once you have established your theme or singular purpose (the one thing you can be the best in the world at) get into the habit of practicing your main habit FIRST before anything else.

Everything else that’s non-important can get neglected and keep getting put-off. In other words, your daily to-do list will keep changing around your main theme which will remain constant – with very few exceptions.

4. Make a stop doing list. I’m not sure where I first heard this idea, but I borrowed it most recently from Jim Collin’s book, “Good to Great.” Too many people have important to-do lists that keep getting longer and longer. But very few people have ‘stop-doing’ lists. Make a list of everything you are doing that is not contributing to your core genius or main purpose and core values – and stop doing it! Forget about your image and what other people will think, and STOP doing what’s not great in your life.

5. Be Simple. Get rid of the good to make room for the great. Literally! Get rid of the junk in your basement and file folders!

Anything you haven’t touched or looked at in a year you probably need to get rid of it. Donate books and magazines you haven’t read and clothes you know you’re never going to wear. Empty your mind and physical space of unnecessary clutter and make room for abundance! (Daily meditation is a great way to empty the mind and allow new inspiration).

6. Make HEALTH a priority NOW! Get a full physical check-up at least once a year. If something’s bothering you or you don’t feel right about something, get it checked out IMMEDIATELY! Don’t wait, until it’s too late. Take a proactive approach to your health by taking preventative measures, eating healthy and exercising regularly. And make LOVE a top priority. If you haven’t taken the time to tell your loved ones how deeply you value and love them, then make time for it now.

Are you still reading this article? WHY? Pick-up your phone, right now, and call your doctor to make that appointment! Call your loved ones now and book some real quality time together. Life is short and fragile. You may never get the chance again.

7. Dreams. The dream is a window into your soul, a gateway into the unseen world, giving access to the unknown and revealing the invisible behind all that is visible. In my book, “Psychology of the Hero Soul,”
(http://www.herosoul.com; Chapter 14; pg. 77)I mention the importance of dreams and how to harness your dreams to awaken your creative potential. I can’t stress enough how important it is to get into the habit of jotting down your dreams and making an effort to interpret them. It is a great way to develop self-awareness and self-understanding and will enrich your life in many, many unforeseen ways.

Self-awareness and self-acceptance is so important in developing your self-esteem. Take the time to seriously ask yourself, “Who am I and what’s my purpose in life?” Write down your strengths and weakness, your highest ambitions and deepest fears, and make a list of everything you enjoy doing and all your hobbies. Take some personality tests to gain deeper understanding of who you are.

8. Face the brutal facts! Never hide from reality. Always get the hard facts about any situation you are facing. It doesn’t matter if you have a Harvard MBA and are the world’s greatest optimist if you pick the wrong location to open up a retail business!

Likewise, face the brutal facts about yourself. If you haven’t even come close to achieving your dreams and goals, you need to honestly ask yourself why you haven’t reached your goals and figure out what has been preventing you. A great way to accomplish this is to ask a few friends you trust and who know you the following question: “How do you see me limiting myself?” (I have Jack Canfield to thank for this great question).

Once you have the facts and fully understand the problem, spend over eighty percent of your time focusing on the solution.

9. ASK for help! If you need help, ask for it. If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Ask for the sale, ask for the date, ask for support. Stop worrying about your image, reject the rejection, and ASK!

But don’t just be a taker. Please also give. Earn the right to ask by being a giver. Be a generous giver because whatever you put out into the world will return multiplied. The hero’s journey is about following your bliss, and doing what you love to do in service to others. “Service above self,” is a great motto to adopt.

10. Take Action! In my Hero Soul book, I have dedicated an entire chapter on taking action. The great succeed by taking continuous and concerted action toward a singular objective. And they continue to take unrelenting, consistent action for a period of years before becoming overnight successes.

If you do just five new things every day towards achieving your biggest dream, you will one day be living your dream and as Thoreau once said, ‘meet with a success unexpected in common hours.’

But if you aren’t going to take action on the advice in this article, why the heck are you reading it? Move on to something else!

One of my favorite movies is “The Shawshank Redemption” (based on Stephen King’s short story, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption) about a successful banker, Andy Dufresne, who is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife. I’m sure many of you have seen it.

For nineteen years Dufresne quietly chips away at his goal to escape by literally chipping the wall in his cell – a little bit every day – until one day he reaches his goal and escapes.

His jail buddy, Red, comments that all it took “was pressure and time.”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any movie replayed so many times on TV. It really intrigued me. So I did some research and found out that according to IMDB, The Shawshank Redemption is the second most popular movie of all time with The Godfather taking first place! That’s quite the accomplishment given how long The Godfather has been out.

Why is this movie so popular? I don’t really know the answer. But I think it’s because many people feel like they’re living in a prison and have been given a life sentence to doing work they really hate. They want to break free from their shackles.

More than anything else, they want FREEDOM! And Shawshank delivers that moment of freedom. It’s a beautiful story that makes the soul weep with joy and provides the hope and promise of being human.

The great thing about Shawshank is that it also provides a solution: by quietly chipping away at your main goal and consistently taking action everyday, you will achieve the success and freedom you have been longing for. With ‘pressure and time’ you can take the darkest coal and turn it into the most brilliant, most magnificent diamond the world has ever seen.

Sharif Khan (http://www.herosoul.com; sharif@herosoul.com) is a motivational speaker, freelance writer, coach, and author of “Psychology of the Hero Soul,” an inspirational book on awakening the hero within and developing people’s leadership potential. It is only too easy to think that you can afford to miss an issue or two. Inevitably, the issues you miss will be the best ones!

One ezine was written by Pawan Agrawal and the other by Martin Avis. They reminded me of two great truths which I have come across and even written about several times before. We need reminding of the great truths again and again because it is easy to forget them or fail to apply them.

Pawan had come across a statistic which shocked her:

"85% of the people who buy ebooks never actually finish reading them, and of those who do read the whole ebook, 95% of them never implement what they learn."

The reason people don't read the ebooks according to Pawan's source is that they believed that they were reading nothing new and had already learned what was in the ebook.

Those who do implement what they know and make things happen are the successful ones. Those who stop only at learning new things without putting them into action are unsuccessful.

I think matters are even worse. Probably 85% of people who buy ebooks never actually start reading them let alone finish reading them and probably only 1 or 2 % actually implement what they learn. I value my own opinion on this because I am one of the guilty ones.

I am highly motivated to learn new things and become very enthusiastic about any new ebook or more expensive product on the market. I have spent thousands of pounds and dollars on both high cost seminars and low cost ebooks and have only read a handful of them.

The problem is that my enthusiasm moves me to buy one ebook and then before I have read it, another appears on the market and I buy that and so on. In the meantime I never get round to reading much except my email! I also have little time available to actually put anything into action.

My reason for not reading is not that I think I know it all; it is my desire to know it all which makes me keep buying the latest and best and then getting overwhelmed with all the new info.I am also a sucker for good copy writing!

I realize that buying ebooks and then not reading and not implementing them is crazy. Martin Avis' ezine suggests the solution. Read the ebook now before anything else has a chance to distract you. Also take action now while your current enthusiasm is still fresh and strong. Don't leave it till later. If you leave things till later other priorities will take over or you will forget to do whatever it was you planned on doing.

I'll finish this article with a great quote from Martin Avis and a great quote from Pawan Agrawal. The first one is from Martin Avis and is pure wisdom:

"The best way to keep enthusiastic and to be constantly motivated is to be a person who takes action. Strangely enough, the more action you take, the more things that you actually do when they spring to mind rather than leave until later, the more things that you will find that you get done. Action breeds action and action now is the best form of motivation that there is."

The quote from Pawan Agrawal is a challenge to you and to me:

"In my observations I have come to the conclusion that there are only two types of people in this world... those that DO and those that DON'T! Those that do are the success stories you often read about in the glossy brochures or on the front page of Time Magazine. Those that DON'T are the ones doing the reading. What type of person are you?"

About the author

John Watson is an award winning teacher and martial arts instructor. He has recently written two books about achieving your goals and dreams. They can both be found on his website http://www.motivationtoday.com along with a daily motivational message.

The title of the first book is "36 Laws To Ignite Your Inner Power And Realize Your Dreams Now! - Acronyms, Stories, And Pictures...Easy To Remember And Use Everyday To Grab Your Life And Soar With The Eagles"

The book can be found at this URL http://www.motivationtoday.com/36_laws.php

The book uses acronyms, stories and pictures to help readers remember 36 laws that can gradually transform your life if you apply them.

You are welcome to publish the article above in your ezine or on your website so long as you do not alter it and keep in the words about the author and the 36 Laws.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Watson

15 Home Business Success Tips

By Michael Russell

Here are several tips to for achieving success in your own MLM/Networking Marketing home based business. Try putting these tips into action and watch your business take off.

1. Start your network marketing home based business with well thought out plans and goals. Most people never plan to fail, they simply fail to plan. Take a moment right now to write out your plans and goals. Push yourself, but don't overdue it. Remember, "What your mind can conceive, it can achieve".

2. Start now! If you wait for things to be just right before getting started you'll never start. Jump in and get going immediately.

3. Act like your home business is a full-time business and soon it will become just that.

4. Never focus all of your attention on trying to bring in the "heavy hitter". Sure, it would be nice to sponsor the guy who puts in 5,000 people in your downline, but don't allow yourself to get caught up in the hype and emotion. It will drain you of your energy and enthusiasm when it doesn't work out.

5. Understand that rejection is inevitable. Not everyone is going to be happy with what you have. Don't let yourself get down. There are many other people wanting what you have.

6. You must follow up with your prospects. This is without a doubt the most important factor in your success with any home business. You have probably heard that the fortune is in the follow up. People will never call you back, but they will join you if you follow up and show them you care. Follow up with everyone and you will sponsor new people in your home business.

7. Be patient and understand that large incomes never happen overnight in any home based business. This is even more true if you are working a full-time job in addition to working your home business. It may take you some time to reach your income goal and to be able to quit your current job.

8. Don't give your prospects any wild and unrealistic expectations. Tell them upfront what to expect. Be honest with them at all times.

9. Understand that your home business is going to require an investment. Just like any commercial business, your home business is going to need funds for marketing supplies, tools and advertising. Thankfully, most home businesses do not require you to take out a loan in order to run on a day to day basis.

10. Never let the day-to-day problems knock you out of your home based business and make you quit. Don't give up on yourself.

11. Don't send out some product samples and marketing materials to a couple of people and then expect the big checks to roll in. It won't happen. It is going to take a few months before you have a steady income coming in.

12. Don't waste your time on cynics. It doesn't matter what type of business you have, these people will never succeed in any home business. If you try and drag a person into your home business, you'll only wear yourself out. Leave them alone and move on.

13. Operate your home business in a professional manner. Never give fake claims about your home business product, or falsify your current income. Only give every prospect the facts and you will begin building their trust. People know if you're being dishonest quickly. If you're not, you have lost your credibility and your prospect as well.

14. Learn everything possible about your home business. Keep up to date with things that happening. Know your competition.

15. Be ENTHUSIASTIC at all times. Be sure to always smile when you're talking on the phone. Have fun and let others know you love what you're doing. It will suddenly become contagious. Remember, people love to be around other people who are having fun!

These tips are only a start. There is so much more to learn. Keep reaching for your goals and keep learning all that you can about your business and more importantly, about yourself. See yourself being successful and you soon will be.

Michael Russell

Your Independent guide to Home Business

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michael_Russell

Every Goal A Success? Tell Me How!

By Margaret Merrill

Seven Secrets for Inspired Success

Secret Six

“The sixth secret is to release your attachment to the outcome. You may wonder how it is that you create success if you are not attached to the outcome. The purpose of any goal or intention in our lives is personal growth. As we create a vision of how we desire our life to be, we commit to growth and to the service we give, rather than the outcome. We do have a vision of the destination but are not attached to it happening in only one way. If we were attached to it, we would be saying, “Only this solution will do.”

Attachment to a single outcome limits our concept of success to a single experience. If we believe that a single outcome is the only measure of our success, then any experience other than the one we are attached to will lead to disappointment and a plummeting self-esteem. If we attach personal success to a certain car, job, relationship or piece of real estate, then we are again becoming a victim. Attachment to an object or outcome allows that outcome to define us. It shrinks our unlimited creative and spiritual potential down to the size of a pea and separates us from others and our Creator.

The best example I can give of this is a trip I recently took to the Bahamas for my brother’s wedding. It was to be a lovely barefoot event on one of the only pink sandy beaches in the world. I had imagined it for months. I love the ocean and was so looking forward to relaxing on the beach, feeling the sun on my face and listening to the sound of the surf. Just days before our departure hurricane Wilma crossed the Florida peninsula leaving devastation in its path and the Fort Lauderdale to Bahamas flights cancelled. The hotel we had stopover reservations at had lost most of its roof and south Florida was without power, water, and food and was under curfew. Our Bahamian resort was thankfully unscathed.

We arrived later that day at our destination, Harbor Island, weary from the adventure but happy to be in the Bahamas. While there, the trailing edge of another hurricane blew up several days’ worth of gale, covering the steps to the beach with deep sand dunes and drenching us with torrential rain. Much of the town remained closed, shutters drawn during the storm. On cue, the clouds parted on the day of the wedding giving us a spectacular sunset as the backdrop for a touching event, crowned with conch shells filled with tropical flowers.

Had the success of my experience been attached to a beach chair and sun tan I would have missed the precious time I enjoyed with my family in still, one of the most beautiful places on the earth.

The ultimate glory came when on the last day I watched a double rainbow appear over the ocean and the setting sun cast the most amazing iridescent orange pink on the ceiling of tropical clouds that stretched from one horizon to the other. It was the most vibrant and breathtaking sunset I have ever witnessed, lasting over 30 minutes. I watched with other resort guests who stood in breathtaking silence. Without the storms, I would never have had that experience, for there would not have been the clouds nor the extra measure of gratitude I felt for this peaceful and brilliant gift.”

This article is based on an excerpt from “Seven Secrets for Inspired Success”. And how can we create lasting change
within oursleves and others?'.

He has spoken in front of more than 3 million people around the world and sold around 35 million books and audio coaching products.

After attending his 4-day 'Unleash The Power Within' seminar recently in Kuala Lumpur I learnt many strategies to perform at your best.

I even took part in his famous barefoot walk over hot coals. This powerful physical metaphor shows how anyone can overcome their deepest and greatest fears with focus, passion and desire.

Part rock concert, part learning experience, part aerobic workout, the seminar was attended by more than 4,000 people in a giant indoor sporting stadium that was built for the Commonwealth Games.

Standing 6'7", weighing 265 lbs and with a shoe size of 16, Robbins was impressive on stage as he harnessed the energy of the crowd.

In fact, security guards have to line the stage as he is regularly swamped by over eager fans.

At 43 years old, he has been enourmously successful and worked with people like President Clinton and Melson Mendela.

What was it like?

Hot, humid, high energy and simple take home messages packaged with a high-tech light, sound and video show.

I was impressed, motivated and got some great ideas from it.

Here is my gift to you. The Top 10 Secrets of Success I learnt from spending 4 days with Tony Robbins.

1. YOUR POTENTIAL IS DETERMINED (OR LIMITED) BY YOUR SELF-BELIEF.

As the promotional material says the event was 'about creating breakthroughs, moving beyond fears and limiting beliefs, accomplishing goals and realizing true desires, turning dreams into reality, creating fulfilling relationships, and modeling the strategies of peak performers to produce a quantum difference in your life.'

If you cut out the hype, the simple message is if you believe in yourself enough you can achieve anything.

A memorable one-liner was "the only thing that's keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself".

2. MOST PEOPLE HAVE SELF-DOUBT AROUND UNIVERSAL THEMES.

Ask anyone and most people will admit they lack confidence in some areas of their life. The interesting thing I learnt from this seminar is that this self-doubt is around universal themes. These themes cross age, gender, religous, cultural and language barriers.

Common doubts include 'I am not good enough', 'I am lazy' and 'No-one loves me'.

3. YOU CAN LEARN MECHANISMS TO ELIMINATE SELF-DOUBT.

Robbins calls it 'immersion' where you break old patterns and build new ones by repetition. He uses a lot of Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques to achieve this with his audiences.

He says "progress is not automatic".

A memorable moment in the seminar was when we had to visualize ourselves inside a bubble and inside that bubble was a series of videotapes neatly arranged in a time-line that represented all our memories in our lives so far. We had to pull out the negative videotapes and destroy them. This was followed by time spent visualising the future and how your life will look 10 and 20 years from now.

4. BELIEF IMPACTS ON MANY LEVELS.

The Robbins message was that 3 things shape our self-belief. He calls them the Triad. These are our patterns of physiology, focus and language or meaning.

He highlighted this with the quote: "where focus goes energy flows".

5. OUR VALUES AND BELIEFS SHAPE OUR ACTIONS.

Robbins believes you can "vanquish whatever is holding you back from taking action".

Walking barefoot across a bed of glowing coals is the physical metaphor he uses in his seminars to prove this point to the skeptics.

Eliminate negative self-belief and take massive action are his keys to success.

6. TO CREATE POSITIVE OUTCOMES YOU MUST TAKE MASSIVE ACTION.

"Where focus goes energy flows" is a quote used by Robbins in his presentation to highlight why you need to know your outcome and why achieving this is a must.

But many people fail to take the next step. They delay, put off and find many reasons or excuses not to act.

Robbins believes "progress is not automatic" and "action is power". Take action, even if it is the wrong action. He says it is "never a failure if you learn something".

7. MATCHING & MIRRORING CREATES CONNECTION, TRUST & EMPATHY.

Robbins spent a fair amount of time in the seminar talking about and demonstrating interpersonal communication skills.

He used people from the audience to show how the process of "matching and mirroring" the non-verbal communication and body language of others can be a very powerful way to connect with people.

In essence, you create rapport by adopting the body language of the person you are communicating with.

He believes "rapport is power" and "total responsiveness is created by a feeling of commonality".

If you have learnt these techniques before and haven't used them for a while, I suggest it is time to dust them off and put them into action next time you are communicating with someone on a one-to-one basis.

8. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF YOU FOCUS ON PASSION AND PURPOSE.

Robbins believes that "to have an extraordinary quality of life you need two skills: the science of achievement (the ability to take anything you envision and make it real) and the art of fulfilment (this allows you to enjoy every moment of it)."

He says "success without fulfilment is failure".

Find your passion and purpose in life. My purpose is to make a difference in people's lives and use my gift as a speaker.

9. MODEL YOURSELF ON OTHER ACHIEVERS.

To gain improvements quickly and step up to a new level of achievement, Robbins believes learning from others who are the best in their field is the fastest way to achieve success.

He told the story of how he wanted to improve his tennis game and so employed Andre Agassi, the then number one ranked player to help him achieve this.

"People's lives are a direct reflection of the expectations of their peer group," according to Robbins.

10. SUCCESS IS BUILT ON A HEALTHY, HIGH ENERGY BODY, HEART AND MIND

If you are not healthy - all of the above points are a waste of time.

Your health is determined and influenced by your lifestyle.

One major change I've made since the seminar is to eat a healthier diet and exercise more regularly.

As a speaker, my whole business depends on my ability to perform at a peak state. Like any professional athlete, the success of business is directly linked to my diet and health.

Take care of yourself, your body is ultimately your most important asset.

Thomas Murrell MBA CSP is an international business speaker, consultant and award-winning broadcaster.

If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success." - Dr. Joyce Brothers

Have you ever noticed that some people seem to attract success like a magnet? While others can't catch a break no matter how hard they seem to try?

Few places is this more prevalent than in the online business world. With more than 97% of all business owners never making a dime from their ventures, it seems that lady luck is calling the shots. But maybe there is more to it than random chance.

After all, success rarely happens by accident. It's actually our own failure that many of us plan.

Those who succeed at anything in life - in particular business - know what they want to achieve, visualize themselves achieving it and then make it a reality. They have a success mindset that goes beyond just the idea of wanting something; it becomes a part of who they are until they have no choice but to make it a reality.

In the early 20th century, multimillionaire Andrew Carnegie hired Napoleon Hill to study the world's most successful people. Hill spent 20 years interviewing, learning from, and understanding more than 500 of the most successful people to ever live. Among them were the super wealthy Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller and Thomas Edison.

Using his research, Hill published Think and Grow Rich in 1937. Today it is still one of the most read books of it's kind. It has stood the test of time because his principles for success can be applied by anyone at any time. In fact, many of his ideas have since been substantiated through scientific studies. One of which is the idea that people possess the power to think their way to success.

Key in Hill's research was the discovery that successful people think differently. They have adopted a set of beliefs that enable them to be successful.

Research now shows what the world's most successful people have always known. If you want to succeed you have to believe you will succeed. Believe that failure is not an option and it won't be.

So, how can you develop your own success mindset?

The best place to start is to stop listening to the little voice in your head that says, "No you can't". Instead believe that you can do anything you put your mind to. The fear of failure holds more people back from achieving success and happiness in their life then perhaps any other factor.

Yet when you truly examine failure, you realize that failure is an outcome. It’s an effect. It’s a result. It’s a conclusion. It’s a judgment that someone has pronounced as an unacceptable standard of performance.

Vince Lombardi, who was arguably the greatest football coach in history, said, “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” I have the greatest respect and admiration for Coach Lombardi, but I disagree with him on this, because in essence what he said is that if you are not number one, you didn’t win. Therefore you are a looser or a failure.

In fact if you have this mindset you are in trouble, because no matter what you do, statistics dictate that there can be only one winner. It follows then, that there will be many losers.

This leaves you with three choices:

1. Win every time, which is rare.

2. Lose constantly and be miserable.

3. Don’t every try.

In real life, however, there are very few sure things. In fact, usually the opposite is true. The world is filled with constant change and uncertainties, and the outcome of any action you take always has a probability of success.

On the other hand, there is always a chance of error, but if you always go with what you believe is the closest thing to a sure shot, you virtually guarantee that you won’t grow very much. To grow means that you have to wander out into the unknown occasionally and take a risk.

Most of our limits are absolutely self-imposed and fear driven. You have to face the things that frighten you in order to realize that they are not as bad as they seem. Things are almost never as bad as we think they are going to be. Unfortunately, in the course or our daily life, we are usually able to avoid the things we fear, and that keeps us from growing and achieving the success we all deserve.

It’s easy to guarantee success every time. All you need to do is change your standard of acceptable performance. The only time you really fail at something is when you do not learn anything from the experience. When you miss a target or a goal, don’t condemn yourself or make yourself miserable. View it as an opportunity to learn how to do better next time.

When you approach setbacks this way, you can boldly face your fears head on. You will know that when you try something that didn’t work, the worst thing that can happen is that you might learn something. You can then try something new, different, or better and you will eventually discover something that works. Using this approach allows you to replace the pain of failure with a sense of positive expectation.

When you do the thing you fear the most and replace the pain of failure with a sense of positive expectation, you will feel better and you’ll be in a positive state of mind. You’ll be in a state of mind that allows you to achieve your goal and not be afraid of failing. It’s this state of mind that will allow you to grow and succeed every time.

Copyright©2006 by Joe Love and JLM & Associates, Inc. Are you secretly dissatisfied with your present situation? Do you want more abundance, inner peace, joy or happiness? Do you want improved health, a lighter body, or an end to a food obsession or addiction?

Yes, you can have what you want! Of course you can. But accomplishing your dreams and creating change is difficult. Despite this fact, at certain times in our lives, we dare to dream of a bigger life. Courageously we bring an inner desire up into ourselves and feel the magnificence of a greater life. Excitement begins to bubble, our hearts open as we anticipate new possibilities. Using all available skills and tools we set forth in the achievement of this new dream. All too soon, the inevitable occurs: our bubble is burst. Reality hits us between the eyes and tells us we cannot have what we want.

This is exactly what happens when we dare to venture into new dreams. Why? Because a dream is something we have never had before. It is an imagined reality, a fantasy, a made-up pretend world never before experienced by us. We dare ourselves to discover if we are capable of creating new beliefs and a new world. The risk and fear is that since we do not currently have what we want, therefore we are incapable, unworthy, undeserving or not allowed to have more in the future. The soul purpose of dreams is to create new beliefs about ourselves and uncover strengths we did not know we possessed. To get through the challenges of the journey, the following steps can ease the way:

1) Acceptance.
Acceptance is simply recognition. Recognition is vitally important, because to recognize what doesn’t feel good makes it so much easier to look around and wonder what might feel better. Acceptance is an agreement to appreciate, validate, accept and support who we are at this very moment, even though there are aspects we would wish to change. We face reality head-on without judgement — opening our eyes to explore the full, and sometimes messy, truth of what exists in our world without using illusions to pretend otherwise. We stop attempting to lay our problem on someone else’s shoulders. We realize no one outside of ourselves will wave a magic wand and dissolve the problem. We also stop blaming ourselves. What we cannot accept, we cannot love. What we cannot love we cannot release.

2) Dream from the Heart.
Visualizing new outcomes is the ability to "see ourselves as we want to be, not as we currently are." This involves going inside, sorting through some ideas and deciding which dreams, which desires, which outcomes feel exciting. Then instead of playing victim, blaming others, or dwelling on the worry or anxiety of what we don’t want in our lives, we teach ourselves to create an exciting partnership with something important to us. To succeed we must first dream! Dreams give our lives purpose, direction and meaning. What has been placed on the back burner that can now be brought forward? What ideas awaken passion, creativity, intuition, and gut feelings?

3) Excitement
Excitement is the power necessary to magnify love, expand spirit and manifest dreams. We are powerful beyond our current beliefs. Dreams help lift us out of current life situations, and guide us down a new path, showing us just how powerful, excited and alive we can actually become. Excitement is not a logical concept but a physical feeling. Excitement is the kind of internal love that says, "Yes! This is a good idea, a fun idea. I’ll spend more time with this idea." As we excitedly play with imagined outcomes, we feel good once again. Feeling good makes us glad to be alive. Feeling good connects us with new potentials, new possibilities and new opportunities.

4) Imagination
Imagination isn’t simply a visual picture of what is wanted. It is a full body experience. Take the time each day to sit and internally create and celebrate a whole new world. We have the ability to pull up exciting ideas and share love, joy and life with ourselves. The feeling good doesn’t arrive in an UPS package later in time once the desire is obtained. The feeling good comes now as we allow ourselves to feel good because of our vision. Picture how happy we are living the dream, envision the details of this new expression of self, feel the exciting emotions of having what is wanted in exactly the way it is wanted.

5) Decide
Decide to achieve the dream. This may seem basic but many people never decide and commit fully to their dream. They simply keep "thinking" about it. Or as the first obstacle appears they give up. Make a commitment to self that this is what is wanted. Obstacles, many of them, are going to arise. Failures and setbacks will occur. Deciding to succeed helps us develop an internal leader who will carry the vision through the good times and the rough times. An internal leader who can remember the big picture no matter what is going on in the present moment. How and when we reach our destination is entirely flexible, but reaching the destination is no longer up for debate.

6) Take Action
For a dream to come true of course we have to take action! Decide where you are now, and what seems like the right place to begin. Action means starting at the right place at the right time.
Begin by choosing the smallest, most achievable, or most exciting, steps that will create movement toward the desired outcome. Why the smallest steps? First, success builds on success. Secondly, huge, dramatic life-changing solutions rarely work. Instead, major changes are a result of a series of small steps which are taken, successfully completed, acknowledged and then celebrated.

7) Expectation
Believe in the outcome of the dream. We may have no idea how to get what is wanted, but it is essential that we believe, ultimately, we will have what is wanted. The first steps are acknowledging the dream, being excited by the dream, developing a committed relationship with the dream and believing we are worthy of having it. Use affirmations, pictures, positive thinking, motivational tapes, prayer, self-love, visualization and whatever it takes, to reaffirm this dream and the belief we can have what we want. It’s okay to have fear. Fear often means we are headed in the right direction. The fear signals that this is something that is wanted. It’s just that we don’t know how to get what we want, so fear pops up to stop us from risking failure. Acknowledge fear as part of the journey and don’t let it sway expectation.

8) Responsibility
Feeling good, being excited about being alive involves taking responsibility for our lives and for our choices. Excitement is a choice. To increase how much is experienced involves reaching within and searching for ideas that feel good and inspire. Only we can decide if our dreams are important enough to overcome any adversity we may have faced in life. Excitement is the fire that fuels new potentials. If we cannot bring peace and excitement to our own internal desires, to our own body, what chance do we have of bringing peace into the world around us?

9) Acknowledge
Keep a check list of all the successful, wonderful things done in a day. Chart all achievements and efforts, big and small. Without a tracking process, we can’t see how far we’ve come. And if we can’t see our efforts, we’re more likely to quit. Celebrate often. If the celebration is postponed until the end of the journey, we miss the entire soul purpose of having the dream. Which is of course to feel better, more alive and excited in the present moment.

10) Enjoy
Creating our dream will require much effort, emotionally, spiritually and physically, to get what is wanted. Fall in love with the journey itself — not just the outcome. Fall in love with yourself for having a dream. Self-love is a consuming passion for our own happiness. It is a choice we make to be excited by focusing attention on abundance, peace and beautiful outcomes. Joy is available when we decide we are important. It is not based on any accomplishment and not awarded in some magical moment when someone gives permission for us to feel good. Love and joy are available as we connect with dreams, flow with empowering thoughts, and decide it is all right to develop an exciting, sensuous and enticing partnership with ourselves.

Helping people let go of self-destructive thoughts, emotions, and behaviors has been the life work of Dr. Annette Colby.
